Dear Sirs,
Subject: Enemy Within the Church
Hope you are doing well, however you should be apprised of a serious problem: the enemy within the Church. You are, no doubt, well aware of this problem, but your view may be out of focus or not right concerning this matter. I am writing you at the behest of Israel’s God that you be warned that “my skirts may be clean” before the Lord, I therefore I am complying. There is a well-developed “fifth column” within the Church bringing damnable heresies as wolves in sheep’s clothing within “the flock” whose mouths must be stopped.
I refer to those who pride themselves as the learned elite and scholars who pretend to have the objective truth, excluding revelation from God advancing heresies such as “progressive revelation”. This rubric they think allows them to alter the everlasting gospel, which cannot be done with impunity. I received a revelation on this matter, (which you may object to, I do not care) from the God of Israel concerning this, as well as substantiating quotes. This, it turns out, is an ancient phenomenon:
The reason Jesus was so angry on many occasions was the threat posed by elite Pharasaical doctorcraft, which now is termed "scholarship" in Mormonism. Actually the Devil is the very same, human nature is the very same, and God is the very same as yesterday, therefore little has "progressed". This phenomenon encountered by Jesus and the Apostles was an attempt by the Devil to subvert the Kingdom of God with man-made institutions or humanism which rely solely on reasoning and learning, excluding revelation from God. Saul (later named Paul) was a student of Hillel considered even today as the greatest scholar of Judaism. Of course Hillel did not receive revelation from God, but operated by his own reasoning. Thus Saul was led to persecute the true Church, from which Judaism had deviated, considering them heretics. After the conversion of Paul, he commented on his former learning and thoughts under the tutelage of Hillel: " When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." (1 Cor 13:11)
Revelation Concerning Present Threat--A Clique of Scholar Elites Received by Art Bulla, Oct 6, 2011:
Being a member of the Church is no guarantee against apostasy from my gospel, which is everlasting, saith the Lord. For did I not come among the Jews with my gospel and they, even they, had also become polluted with the precepts of men, even the Scribes (scholars) Sadducees and Pharisees, saith the Lord? And thus my people were deluded by them and turned away from me by these because of their popularity with the people, despite the mighty miracles which I the Lord God did work among them. Thus it is that scholars and scribes with their learning attempted garner praise from the foolish and ignorant among the people at that time, even as it is now, saith the Lord. For these, whom ye call modern, yea, even those who are known as scholars, historians, are the same as them who fought against me when I the Lord God, while walking the dusty streets of Jerusalem in the day of my power, threatened to topple their doctorcraft, priestcraft, lawyercraft and priestcraft. Yea, thus saith the Lord, Van Hale and those who follow him is one of these scholars, liars and hypocrites. Why think ye that I the Lord God did speak against them in the day of my power among the Jews? It is because these were those through whom the devil does exercise and uphold his dominion in the world, for he verily, saith the Lord, is the prince thereof. And the devil, having practice on many societies before thee O man, desires your destruction when the judgments of God have been poured out upon the reprobate nations who have allowed themselves to be led and dominated by these lawyers, doctors, lawyers, Scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites! For do they not say, that seek deep to hide their counsels from the Lord, who seeth us and who knoweth us in the corruption of their hearts and minds, and who subvert the Everlasting Gospel for their own pride, in order to get power and the praise, money, wealth and influence among those who are ignorant and foolish who because of their pride and corruption also uphold them? And thus, I the Lord God was crucified by them, even these doctors, lawyers, merchants who polluted the Temple, liars, scholars, historians, hypocrites! Even so. Amen.
If you desire advice and counsel I would be happy to provide you direction that you be not cut off the people in the day of the Lord, and cast of to where there is weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, saith the Lord.
“I just know there are men here right amongst us who thirst for the blood of the Prophets of God; and there are those professing to be Saints who are fostering them in their hellish designs; but I pray my heavenly Father to purge out these cursed characters from among us. The time has come when the ungodly and the hypocrites are to be searched out. This is undoubtedly the time the Prophet spoke of when he said, "The sinner in Zion shall be afraid, and fearfulness shall surprise the hypocrite." The people are better prepared for this now than ever they were; for there never was a time when light was reflected upon this people as at the present; no, there never was such a time as there is now; and I know it, if no other man does.” Brigham Young (Journal of Discourses, 26 vols., 5:, p.25)
“This is indeed a vile and hellish day in which carnality reigns, a day in which men are ripening in iniquity preparatory to the day of burning. In it there is but one ray of hope. The light of the gospel shines in the darkness, and all who will come to that light have power to rid themselves of the curses of carnality and to live as becometh saints.” (Bruce R. McConkie, The Millennial Messiah: The Second Coming of the Son of Man, p.45)
“The qualities of the devil and all fallen angels, are good qualities; they are the very same which they received from their infinitely perfect creator, the very same which are, and must be in all heavenly angels; but they are an hellish, abominable malignity in them now, because they have, by their own self-motion, separated them from the light and love which should have kept them glorious angels.” (An Appeal to all who Doubt)
It is well that our people understand this principle, so they will not be misled by those apostates within the Church who have not yet repented or been cut off. But there is a cleansing coming. The Lord says that his vengeance shall be poured out "upon the inhabitants of the earth. . . . And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord; First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me. . . ." (D&C 112:24-26.) I look forward to that cleansing; its need within the Church is becoming increasingly apparent. The Lord strengthened the faith of the early apostles by pointing out Judas as a traitor, even before this apostle had completed his iniquitous work. So also in our day the Lord has told us of the tares within the wheat that will eventually be hewn down when they are fully ripe. But until they are hewn down, they will be with us, amongst us. The hymn entitled "Though in the Outward Church Below" contains this thought: "Though in the outward Church below Both wheat and tares together grow, Ere long will Jesus weed the crop And pluck the tares in anger up. . . . We seem alike when here we meet; Strangers may think we are all wheat; But to the Lord's all-searching eyes, Each heart appears without disguise. The tares are spared for various ends, Some for the sake of praying friends, Others the Lord against their will, Employs, his counsels to fulfill. But though they grow so tall and strong, His plan will not require them long; In harvest, when he saves his own, The tares shall into hell be thrown." (Hymns, No. 102.) Tares among the wheat Yes, within the Church today there are tares among the wheat and wolves within the flock. As President Clark stated, "The ravening wolves are amongst us, from our own membership, and they, more than any others, are clothed in sheep's clothing because they wear the habiliments of the priesthood. . . . We should be careful of them. . . ." (Era, May 1949, p. 268. See also, Conference Report, April 1949, p. 163.) The wolves amongst our flock are more numerous and devious today than when President Clark made this statement. President McKay has said that "the Church is little, if at all, injured by persecution and calumnies from ignorant, misinformed or malicious enemies. A greater hindrance to its progress comes from faultfinders, shirkers, commandment-breakers, and apostate cliques within its own ecclesiastical and quorum groups." (Era, December 1967, p. 35. See also, Conference Report, October 1967, p. 9.) Not only are there apostates within our midst, but there are also apostate doctrines that are sometimes taught in our classes and from our pulpits and that appear in our publications. And these apostate precepts of men cause our people to stumble. As the Book of Mormon, speaking of our day, states: ". . . they have all gone astray save it a few, who are the humble followers of Christ; nevertheless, they are led, that in many instances they do err because they are taught by the precepts of men." (2 Ne. 28:14.) The precepts of men Let us consider some of the precepts of men that may and do cause some of the humble followers of Christ to err. Christ taught that we should be in the world but not of it. Yet there are some in our midst who are not so much concerned about taking the gospel into the world as the are about bringing worldliness into the gospel. They want us to be in the world and of it. They want us to be popular with the worldly even though a prophet has said that this is impossible, for all hell would then want to join us. Through their own reasoning and a few misapplied scriptures, they try to sell us the precepts and philosophies of men. They do not feel the Church is progressive enough-they say that it should embrace the social and socialist gospel of apostate Christendom. They are bothered that President McKay believes that "the social side of the Restored Gospel is only an incident of it; it is not the end thereof." (Letter of the First Presidency to Dr. Lowry Nelson, July 17, 1947.) They attack the Church for not being in the forefront of the so-called "civil rights movement." They are embarrassed over some Church doctrine, and as Lehi foretold, the scoffing of the world over this and other matters will cause some of them to be ashamed and they shall fall away. (See 1 Ne. 8:28.) Publishing differences with Church Unauthorized to receive revelation for the Church, but I fear still anxious to redirect the Church in the way they think it should go, some of them have taken to publishing their differences with the Church, in order to give their heretical views a broader and, they hope, a more respectable platform. Along this line it would be well for all of us to remember these words of President George Q. Cannon: "A friend . . . wished to know whether we . . . considered an honest difference of opinion between a member of the Church and the Authorities of the Church was apostasy. . . . We replied that we had not stated that an honest difference of opinion between a member of the Church and the Authorities constituted apostasy, for we could conceive of a man honestly differing in opinion from the Authorities of the Church and yet not be an apostate; but we could not conceive of a man publishing those differences of opinion and seeking by arguments, sophistry and special pleading to enforce them upon the people to produce division and strife and to place the acts and counsels of the Authorities of the Church, if possible, in a wrong light and not be an apostate, for such conduct was apostasy as we understood the term." (Deseret News, November 3, 1869.) (Elder Ezra Taft Benson, Conference Report, April 1969, First Day-Morning Meeting, p.10-12)
"We have no right to take the theories of men, however scholarly, however learned, and set them up as a standard, and try to make the Gospel bow down to them; making of them an iron bedstead upon which God's truth, if not long enough, must be stretched out, or if too long, must be chopped off-anything to make it fit into the system of men's thoughts and theories! On the contrary," he instructed the Saints, "we should hold up the Gospel as the standard of truth, and measure thereby the theories and opinions of men." (Robert L. Millet, The Power of the Word: Saving Doctrines from the Book of Mormon, p.293-294)
"If the claims of the Church are to be understood as story rather than history, then authority in the Church will eventually pass from the Brethren to the scholars, just as it happened in ancient Israel and in the early Christian Church. For if the scholars know the "objective truth" about the Book of Mormon through their research while the "benighted Brethren" are still struggling under a false perspective and with archaic interpretations, then modern revelation and authority are just part of the myth, part of our "salvation history," and we, like the ancient Church, will ultimately abandon the idea of living prophets and turn to scholars for the "truth." God help us if it comes to that. " (Monte S. Nyman and Charles D. Tate, Jr., eds., Second Nephi: The Doctrinal Structure, p.403)
"The existence and proof of these ancient people and their teachings prove that those who have labeled or allowed these artifacts (Michigan Tablets) to be labeled phony, are they themselves phony. This includes professors and teachers of higher learning in our educational systems, heads of the Smithsonian Institute, Prophets, Seers, Revelators, leaders, professors and teachers within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as well as others of other organizations." Duane Ericson
BROAD-MINDEDNESS LEADS TO APOSTASY. I would like for a few minutes to offer a few observations in regard to the question of tolerance and broad-mindedness. We hear so much in these days about being tolerant and broad-minded. I suppose the world will never know how many crimes have been committed through a misinterpretation and misunderstanding of these terms. Satan is very broad-minded, extremely so as long as he can get people to do evil and avoid the truth. He will teach any kind of theory, or principle, or doctrine, if it doesn't conform to the fundamental things of life-the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is even willing to teach some truth, if he can join that truth with error, and by teaching the error with the truth lead men astray. This is how broad-minded he is, and that is how the apostasy came about in the primitive Church.
I am satisfied, and I know that the kingdom of God is governed by a definite, fixed law, that cannot be controverted. We cannot change it because we perhaps become modern and say we are broad-minded, as some people understand broad-mindedness and tolerance to be. It does not change the fact in the least that if we would receive the kingdom of God and enter into its exaltation, we must comply with the fundamental truths, the laws upon which that kingdom is established. We have them; we are the advocates of these principles; they are in our keeping. (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 3 vols., edited by Bruce R. McConkie, 3:, p.298,300)
We Latter-day Saints gratefully acknowledge the Book of Mormon as the keystone of our religion, recognizing that the validity of our faith rests on the validity of the Book of Mormon. In the Church we accept not only the truthfulness of its doctrine, but also the historicity of the events it describes. We believe "that the Book of Mormon is just what it professes to be," as President J. Reuben Clark stated. To teach less than this about it is to deny it. (Kent P. Jackson, ed., Studies in Scripture, Vol. 7: 1 Nephi to Alma 29 1)
"...the undergirding assumption of those who question the historicity in whole or in part-is a denial of the supernatural, a refusal to admit the role of divine intervention in the form of revelation and miracles and predictive prophecy. It is the tendency, unfortunately, to adopt uncritically the secular presuppositions and methodologies of those who have neither faith nor direction." Stephen E. Robinson

Discussion of variouis topics, not the least being the vision of Mosiah Hancock of Pre-Existence:
THE REVELATIONS OF JESUS CHRIST
SECTION 53.
VISION OF THE PRE-EXISTANCE, GIVEN TO MOSIAH HANCOCK, (around 1855)
Body of the Vision:
1 When about twenty-one years of age, I was
permitted by the power of God, to
go into His presence and into my
former abode.
2 I saw the Eternal Father on His
throne and His wives on His left side, all
shining in glory; I saw the Savior and knew
Him.
3 It takes the power of the Holy Ghost to tell
the difference between the Father and the Son,
they look so much alike.
4 Jesus said: "Mosiah, I have brought you here
to show you how it was before you went to the
earth.
5 "I had been to the earth; everything looked so
natural and familiar.
6 I seemed to have been a companion of the
Savior and talked with him like a friend.
7 Again, He spoke to me and said : "Look and
see man as he came forth .
8 " I looked in the direction indicated and saw
an innumerable line of God's children
extending further than I could see.

· 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. (New Testament | Galatians 1:10 - 12)
