The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood

The process or pathway by which one becomes a son of God, co-heir with the Firstbegotten.

12 But as many as received him (second birth by partaking of the ordinances--see Acts 2:38---from a legal administrator), to them gave he power (in the Priesthood which is after the Order of Melchizedek) to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

(John 1:12-13)

The Oath: 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou [art] a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (Ps 110:4)
Note: The lesser Priesthood which is not after an endless life, but carnal commandments is not attended with an oath: 21 For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou [art] a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec: (Heb 7:21)
The Covenant: 36 For he that receiveth my servants receiveth me;
37 And he that receiveth me receiveth my Father;
38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father's kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him.
39 And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the priesthood.
40 Therefore, all those who receive the priesthood, receive this oath and covenant of my Father, which he cannot break, neither can it be moved. (D&C 84:36-40)
