The prophesied "great division amongst the people" (liberal vs. conservative) is to end in the destruction of the present Gentile hegemony:



21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came (Adam, saith the Lord), and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
25 And he (the US-"another horn more stout"-- shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High (Latter-Day-Saints), and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

(Dan 7:21-22,25)

2 Ne 30:10
10 For the time speedily cometh that the Lord God shall cause a great division among the people, and the wicked will he destroy; and he will spare his people, yea, even if it so be that he must destroy the wicked by fire.

Ether 2:10
10 For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God. And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.
