Slander of Brigham Young and Self by Pharasaical Mormons

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Matthew 5:10 - 12) "On April 9, 1852, Brigham Young delivered a sermon at a conference session in Salt Lake City. This discourse became the cause of more heated arguments, doctrinal controversy, and violent reaction from both member and non-member alike than any other oration ever delivered in the Church. Since then, Brigham Young has been the victim of more slander, ridicule, and derision than any other president of the Latter-day Saints. Such reactions and contempt were aroused when he taught the position of Adam to the human race. But, in spite of the furor against this Adam/God doctrine by those both in and out of the Church, many of the members acclaimed it to be one of the most important and disclosing revelations ever given to the Saints. In later years, some members would even be excommunicated for advocating it. The doctrine still stands as a classic in theological expose." Ogden Kraut Slander a) Spencer W. Kimball: ‘‘We warn you against the dissemination of doctrines which are not according to the scriptures which are alleged to have been taught by some of the general authorities of past generations. Such, for instance is the Adam-God theory. We denounce that theory and hope everyone will be cautioned against this and other kinds of false doctrine. We worship Eloheim, the father of Jesus Christ. We do not worship Adam and we do not pray to him.’’ Church News, Oct. 9, 1976. b) Bruce R. McConkie: The devil keeps this heresy alive as a means of obtaining converts to cultism. It is contrary to the whole plan of salvation set forth in the scriptures.’’
